Affiliate disclosure
Here is exactly how this site pays for itself, stated in plain language so there are no surprises. This is our FTC disclosure, and it applies to every page.
Yellowknife Tours is an independent guide, not a tour operator and not a booking platform. We are also not Yellowknife Tours Ltd, the local operating company of the same name; two of the trips we list happen to be theirs, chosen on their own merits. When we send you to a tour, you book and pay on the operator's own official listing. Some of the links that take you there are affiliate links.
What that means
Some links on this site are affiliate links. Tour links go to Viator and GetYourGuide, the two platforms the real Yellowknife operators use to sell their trips. Some hotel links, which we may add later, would go to Expedia through our travel affiliate partner Travelpayouts. If you click one of these links and then book, we may earn a small commission.
That commission is paid by the platform out of its own margin. It costs you nothing extra. The price you see and pay on Viator or GetYourGuide is the same whether you reach the listing through our link or type the address yourself.
One link that earns us nothing
The North Star Adventures ice fishing tour is linked directly to the operator's own website. That is a plain link, not an affiliate link: we earn no commission on it whatsoever. It is on the site because the trip is worth knowing about, which is the only test any listing here has to pass.
What it does not change
- It never changes what you pay. There is no markup, no surcharge, no "affiliate price".
- It never changes which tours we recommend. We list the trips worth your time, judged on their real ratings, inclusions and access, and a tour that is not worth recommending does not go on the site regardless of commission.
- It never changes the facts. Every rating and review count you see is the operator's own current figure on its live Viator or GetYourGuide listing, not a number we made up or inflated.
About the numbers and prices
Ratings and review counts shift as more travellers book, so treat them as the figure at the time we last checked the listing. We do not print tour prices, because they change by date, season and group size: the live price always shows on the operator's listing for your chosen date. Extras like the NWT sport fishing licence, about CA$15 on ice fishing trips, are separate and not included in tour prices.
Why we tell you this
Because you deserve to know, and because the US Federal Trade Commission requires it. Being upfront also keeps our incentives honest: we would rather you trust the recommendation than click blind. If you would like the fuller picture of how we verify what goes on each page, read about Thomas Beaulieu and our fact-checking. Questions about any of this? Email us.
